About the Park
River Oaks Park, located at the corner of River Oaks and Sunny Oak in the Thousand Oaks Neighborhood, is a family friendly park for all ages.
Amenities
River Oaks Park has 2 shaded play structures for children ages 2-12. The recently completed picnic pavilion offers a great place to serve lunch, cook on the barbeque grill or hold a gathering. The large play field is perfect for practicing sports or engaging in a game of tag. The full serpentine sidewalk provides a walking and biking track, and the park benches offer a resting spot to view the entire play area.
Renovations
This park is a great example of community partnership. Located on 3 lots, the park is surrounded by a neighborhood of 540 homes, located in both Lake Dallas and Corinth. Through fundraising efforts, including a commemorative brick patio, residents of Thousand Oaks began the endeavor of building a playground on the lots. The Lake Dallas Community Development Board recognized the efforts of the neighborhood residents and used their funds to complete the playground. Phase II was completed 2 years later adding:
- Benches
- Garbage receptacles
- Picnic pavilion
- Sidewalks
- Solar lights
- Sun screen
On any given afternoon, families are found at this park visiting with neighbors or enjoying the day with their children.
