  • 01/09/2025 3:00 pm. Deteriorated road conditions will continue across North Texas with low impacts in Central Texas. Thursday night into Friday morning will be the period of the worst travel impacts across the region with improvement in the DFW Metroplex in the late morning/midday time-frame. Conditions along the Red River will not improve until early to mid afternoon. Any water on the roads will refreeze Friday night into Saturday morning with hazardous conditions again for North TX.  A transition from cold rain to freezing rain to sleet to snow will occur across our area. The heaviest and best chances for snow will be along the Red River. A wintry mix of all precip types will be more likely across much of North Texas. There is a low chance for snow totals around 8-10" (10% coverage). A transition to all snow will occur through Friday morning, with all precip coming to an end on Friday.
  • 01/09/2025 7:30 am. Due to current circumstances, City Hall is closed, and there will be no City Council meeting this evening. If you have any inquiries regarding court or development services, please direct your questions to their respective email addresses.

    The City of Lake Dallas will continue to update the alert banner as the storm progresses. We urge everyone to stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel. Only venture out if absolutely necessary.

  • 01/08/25 5 pm. A WINTER STORM WARNING and WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY are in effect for North and Central Texas Thursday through early Friday. The Warning is for areas near and east of the DFW Metroplex, while the Watch is for western North Texas and northern Central Texas. Snowfall accumulations of 2 to 5 inches will be possible in the warning area, and isolated amounts up to 8 inches within more intense bands north & northeast of the DFW Metroplex . A mix of snow and sleet of up to 2 inches and ice of up to a tenth of an inch are expected in the Advisory. 

City of Lake Dallas Operations

  • City of Public Works will arrive 1/9/25 at 4 am. to begin evaluating the road conditions.  Operations will be 24/7 from that point until the end of storm event.  Public works will sand and ice melt down on bridges and trouble spots as needed.  
  • City of Lake Dallas Police will be running normal hours tomorrow.  Additional staff is ready for emergencies as need.  If you have an Emergency DIAL 911.
  • City Hall will be running limited staffing tomorrow with some departments working remotely.  If you need any assistance please feel free to use the Staff Directory to contact the appropriate department/individual by email.  City Hall may close early to allow the staff that is working ample time to commute home safely.  
  • Lake Dallas Library will be closed tomorrow.

  • When temperatures are below freezing, open cabinets and drip each faucet one drip per second. Ensure sprinklers are turned off.

  • The State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR) program is a free service provided by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM). It allows Texans with disabilities, medical needs, or other specific challenges to register their information so that local emergency responders and planners are better prepared to assist them during disasters or emergencies.   • TxDot has been pretreating roadways, and will continue to pretreat with a focus on bridges and highways.
  • ERCOT has issued a weather watch but expects to be able to meet demands.
  • Power outages can be monitored or reported using the Oncor outage map(External link)
  • Consider changing your travel plans. When you drive in or after winter precipitation, leave early, drive slowly and watch the road conditions.
