What: A storytime for children wherein a classic juvenile chapter book is read serially and discussed. Each week, a chapter or two will be read from the same book until the book is completed. Discussion will take place before and after the reading, to first discuss what has happened in the story so far (and catch up those who missed a chapter or two), and after to discuss what was heard and to theorize what might come next.
Who: Children ages 7-12; any child who is ready to listen to, read, and/or discuss chapter books.
When: Thursdays at 4:30
Where: Lake Dallas Public Library
Why: This program develops literacy skills including comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, and literary techniques. In addition this program encourages learning patience and memory skills; in this day and age of instant watch shows, the children must wait a full week for the continuation of the story.
