Lake Cities 4th of July

Event Details

This is a spectacular, one-of-a-kind celebration that unites the communities of Lake Dallas, Corinth, Hickory Creek and Shady Shores in celebration of our Nation’s birth. The festivities begin with a patriotic parade followed by food, contests, vendors, inflatable water slides, horseback rides and toe tappin’ music. The day is brought to a close with one of the largest, most dazzling fireworks displays in the area.

Watermelon Eating Contest - 1:45 pm

  • Sign up during the morning at the Info Booth, Contest will be held in front of Stage
  • 16 contestants will be drawn to compete in 2 age brackets: 5-12 and 13+
  • The 5-12 age group will have 3 minutes and the 13+ age group will have 4 minutes to eat as much watermelon as they can. 
  • Prizes
      ° 5-12: $25 and Award

Seed Spitting Contest - 2 pm

  • Line up at 2 pm in front of stage to compete. 
  • Contestants of ALL AGES get three seeds to spit.
  • Seed that lands the furthest distance from starting point is the winner
  • Prize: $25

Mustache & Beard Contest - 6 pm


  • Line up in front of Stage at 6 pm
  • Best Mustache, Best Beard and Best Decorated Beard will be judged on style and personality. Decorated Beard does NOT have to be real.

The Lake Cities 4th of July celebration is a family oriented, community event. Although we have added many activities over the years, we remain true to our roots. The goal is family participation in a safe environment at a reasonable cost. There is no admission and many free activities including music all day. All of this adds to a continual stream of event-goers seeing what else there is to eat or purchase.

Is alcohol allowed?
– No
  • Is outside food or drink allowed? – No
  • Are pets allowed? – Yes but they must be on a leash
  • Is there an ATM? – Yes
  • Can we light our own fireworks?  As defined in Section 46-2 of the City Code of Ordinances, “It is unlawful for any person to discharge or cause to be discharged any fireworks within the corporate limits of the city. Police officers of the city may confiscate fireworks from any person found to be in violation of this provision.” Through special permits for celebration and the direction and supervision of the Fire Marshall, Pyrotechnico puts on an amazing fireworks show at the Lake Cities 4th of July which continues to grow in volume and popularity every year.


For any guests that will be travelling NORTH on I-35 after the festivities, AGL will be opening a TEMPORARY entrance ramp to Northbound I-35 from 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm. This ramp is on the south end of town. From City Park take Hundley Drive West then South on Lake Dallas Drive to the Service Road Access. The ramp is close to Covenant Fellowship Church and Chilitos. Using this route will keep you out of any possible congestion on Swisher Road.
